DENTISTRY

Periodontal disease is the most common disease in dogs and cats. The importance of dental health is often overlooked by pet owners. More than 85% of dogs and cats over four years of age suffer from some form of periodontal disease. Bad breath (halitosis) is usually the first sign of this condition. If left untreated, the bacteria causing your pet’s bad breath, can lead to kidney and heart failure. Other signs of periodontal disease include bleeding gums, loss of appetite, pawing at the face, irritability, lethargy and depression.

Regular dental exams combined with good dental hygiene at home can increase your pet’s health, vitality and well-being while helping ensure your pet leads the best life possible.

We recommend you check your pet’s teeth regularly and scheduling an appointment for your pet should any of these symptoms arise.

  • Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
  • Bad breath
  • Discoloration, excess tarter or bleeding
  • Fractured or loose teeth
  • Mouth or gum swelling
  • Pain in or around the mouth area
  • Reduced appetite or refusal to eat

Here at Cadence Animal Hospital, we offer a number of dental services beyond the regular check-up:
